Extreme Weather Guidelines (Heat)

We have experienced two heatwaves during the 2026 Summer Season, and have come through these having respected relevant guidelines and specifically, ensuring that our bowls fixtures are not played during the day when it's at it's hottest.


Our Health & Safety Officer - John Bubbers - has published key guidance throughout the week to keep us bowling safely, and this includes :


Amending start time for game to be played (commonly after 5pm)

Ensuring we have cool spaces and shared available

Using shaded areas on the patio


..... and of course, having our bar open with a plentiful supply of non-alcoholic refrehsments.


Our green maintenance programme has also been adjusted.


There's some excellent advice provided by Bowls England which is all about adjusting how you approach the heat, and not stopping bowls all together - it's a summer sport to be enjoyed by those who want to and are able to play. You'll find the guidance here :
